President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to providing modern equipment, enhanced training and sustained logistical support to the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies as part of ongoing efforts to combat insecurity and emerging threats across the country.
The president said this at the Passing Out Parade (POP) of the Regular Course 7/2019 Cadets of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano on Saturday.
Addressing senior government officials, security chiefs, traditional rulers and thousands of parents and guardians, the president described the graduation as “a momentous milestone for our young Cadets and a symbol of our collective progress in strengthening the security architecture of our nation.”
The president, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, commended the remarkable progress recorded by the Police Academy since its establishment, especially significant improvements in infrastructure, academic standards, training quality and its evolution into a full-fledged degree-awarding institution.
He lauded patriotic Nigerians who contributed to building the institution, saying their efforts have produced a new generation of officers equipped with the knowledge, discipline, and values needed to secure the nation.
The president said his administration is determined to build a modern, people-centered Police Force rooted in integrity, accountability, professionalism, and respect for human rights.
“Our vision remains clear — to raise a Police Force that is well educated, well trained, and fully equipped to manage internal security with dignity and fairness,” he said.
President Tinubu applauded the Police Academy’s management and staff for aligning their mission with the administration’s reform agenda, describing their work as “crucial in shaping a police institution capable of earning public trust and maintaining peace through intelligence-driven, community-oriented policing.”
He urged the newly commissioned cadets to embrace the highest standards of integrity, professional conduct and patriotism.
“You are not just law enforcers; you are guardians of our collective security and well-being. The nation expects you to serve with honour, fairness, and selfless dedication,” he said.
The president stressed that the cadets must treat every Nigerian with dignity, uphold the rule of law at all times, and demonstrate exemplary character both on and off duty.
“Your welfare and professional development,” he assured, “shall remain a priority of the Federal Government.”
He said beyond providing equipment, the government is addressing the root causes of insecurity by promoting economic growth, social cohesion, and inclusive development across the country.
He expressed appreciation to the families of the graduating cadets for their sacrifice and encouragement, noting that their support has helped mould the young officers into disciplined and patriotic professionals.
President Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain united in the quest for a safer and more prosperous country.
“Let us look to the future with hope and determination; together, we can build a Nigeria that is secure, just, and prosperous for all,” he said.
