One person died, and three others sustained serious injuries when a Lexus SUV crashed along the Coastal Road towards Eko Hotel in Lagos on Friday.
The grey Lexus 350, with registration number LSD 554 KV, reportedly lost control, struck a roadside pole and overturned.
Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment at the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the incident in a statement.
He said LASTMA officers monitoring traffic in the area responded immediately, secured the scene and coordinated rescue efforts.
Passers-by helped remove the injured occupants from the vehicle, and LASTMA took them to Duck-Yard Hospital within the Military Zone for treatment.
Security personnel from Victoria Island also assisted in the operation.
LASTMA officers subsequently cleared the wreckage to restore traffic movement and reduce the risk of further crashes.
The agency’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the deceased’s family and urged drivers to exercise greater caution.
He warned against speeding and reckless driving, saying such behaviour endangered vehicle occupants and other road users.
Bakare-Oki urged residents to report crashes, breakdowns, road obstructions and emergencies through LASTMA’s toll-free short code, 3367.
