The Federal Executive Council (FEC) Wednesday approved N15.1 billion for projects and construction of roads by the Federal Ministry of Aviation and the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Aviation Senator Hadi Sirika and the Minister of Information and Culture Mr Lai Mohammed at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Sirika said N10,081,177,338.31 billion was approved by the council for the three items presented for projects in the aviation sector.
He said reconstruction of the Hadejia airstrip at the total sum of N7,482,071,196.56 billion awarded to Messrs CCECC for a period of 18 months.
“There is the construction or Control Tower and Technical Building in Enugu awarded to Mssrs Mascot Associates Limited at the cost of N1,973,606,141.75 billion, and the third contract is for procurement of utility vehicles, to Mssrs Kaura Motors at the sum of N625,500,000 million; bringing the total cost of the contracts to N10 billion,” he said.
Also speaking, the Minister of Information and Culture Mr Lai Mohammed said the council also approved projects to be executed by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.
He said the council approved a revised cost of the contract for the rehabilitation and construction of Mayan, Nashungo, Iizelle Katayo, SEC, Abule Egba, Oju Ajila road in Benue state.
He said the contract was first awarded in 2012 at N1,035,000,000 billion but was augmented with an additional N1,063,000,000 making it a total of N2,099,708,1004.46 billion.
He said the council approved solar electricity project for the Mabushi headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing.
“Sometimes in March 2019, a contract was awarded for the provision of a solar power that would power the entire ministry at the cost then for about N2.721 billion,” he said.
He said the contractors asked for an augmentation of N309 million to bring the total cost to 3 billion as approved by FEC.
“The reason for the augmentation is that in the process of executing the project certain works which were not anticipated before were to be taken into consideration. And in addition, this augmentation also includes a maintenance,” he said.
