President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerian youths to take ownership of the nation’s future by investing their talents, creativity and energy in building a stronger and more prosperous country.
In his Democracy Day address on Friday, the President challenged young Nigerians to see themselves not merely as beneficiaries of democracy but as active participants in shaping the country’s future.
The President said Nigeria remains a land of opportunities despite existing challenges and urged them to contribute positively to national development.
“To our young people: Nigeria is your home and your future. Build here, code here, work here, and vote here,” the President said.
He said that nation-building requires commitment, resilience and the willingness to confront challenges rather than abandon them.
“Every great nation was built by those who stayed to solve problems, not by those who abandoned ship,” he said.
He expressed confidence that Nigerian youths possess the ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit needed to transform the nation.
The President said his administration remains committed to creating an environment where young people can thrive through expanded opportunities in technology, agriculture, manufacturing, entrepreneurship and the creative sector.
The President linked the future of democracy to the active participation of young people in governance and electoral processes.
He maintained that the responsibility of securing prosperity for future generations rests largely on the shoulders of today’s youth, urging them to remain hopeful and committed to the Nigerian project.
