President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has identified agriculture, infrastructure development and export expansion as key pillars of Nigeria’s economic recovery strategy.
Speaking during his Democracy Day address, the President said government initiatives in agriculture and trade are beginning to yield positive results.
He disclosed that the National Agricultural Development Fund has commenced a large-scale mechanisation programme to boost food production and support farmers.
“The National Agricultural Development Fund is deploying 10,000 tractors over five years,” he said.
The President said the initiative would help modernise farming practices, increase productivity and strengthen food security across the country.
He also revealed that significant progress has been made in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises to access international markets.
“Over 1,000 SMEs have been certified for export,” he said.
He said the growing competitiveness of Nigerian products is already translating into stronger export performance.
“Non-oil exports grew by 21 per cent last year,” he said.
The President said that ongoing infrastructure projects are helping to connect producers with markets while creating employment opportunities.
“Across the country, infrastructure projects are connecting producers to markets and creating opportunities for enterprise and employment,” he said.
He said investments in transportation, agriculture, manufacturing and technology are laying the foundation for sustainable economic growth.
The President expressed optimism that continued investments in productive sectors would help reduce dependence on oil revenues and create a more diversified economy.
He assured Nigerians that his administration would continue to implement policies that encourage production, investment, and wealth creation.
