President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended members of the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force and intelligence agencies for their sacrifices in safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity and protecting democratic governance.
Speaking during his Democracy Day address on Friday, the President described security personnel as patriots whose dedication continues to sustain peace and national stability.
“To our armed forces, police, and intelligence services: Nigeria salutes your sacrifice,” he said.
The President acknowledged the difficult conditions under which security personnel operate, noting that many have paid the ultimate price in defence of the country.
He said the nation’s democratic gains would not have been possible without the courage and commitment of men and women serving on the frontlines against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other forms of criminality.
He assured security agencies of his administration’s continued support through improved funding, recruitment, training and acquisition of modern equipment.
The President also paid tribute to traditional rulers, religious leaders and community stakeholders for supporting peace-building efforts across the country.
“To our traditional rulers, faith leaders, and community heads: thank you for your support of peace and reconciliation. The government cannot do it alone,” he said.
According to him, securing Nigeria requires a collective national effort involving government institutions and citizens.
He stressed that sustainable peace can only be achieved through cooperation, vigilance and a shared commitment to national unity.
The President reiterated that the administration remains determined to provide security agencies with the resources required to defeat criminal elements and ensure the safety of all Nigerians.
